How to Braid Hair for Beginners

A good morning for all of us would be to have an hour where we could do anything with our hair with the skill of a hairstylist, but without any time constraints. If we were in a perfect world, we would have a squad of hair stylists that would do our bidding as we slept. And this is real life, so we can't have minions. Braid patterns are hard to create too.

This is why we have searched the globe for Hair Braiding Techniques that are truly easy to complete—such as those that can be done as you walk or at the very least those that do not tear your hair out.

The oppressive weight of our hair is beginning to wear on us. Rather than putting your hair in a dull bun or ponytail, experiment with different hairstyling techniques.

Braids are an intriguing and varied aspect of our life, and it feels like everyone got bored with them after middle school. But these designs are new, chic, and exciting. True, it could take a few attempts to become a master of these skills, but we can assure you that these lessons make the task completely possible. So, you should scroll down and learn everything to blow your mind as a newbie, and then get your braid on.

Step by Step Guide to 4 Styles:

1. Easiest 3 Strand Braid:

This is the ideal setting for novices to begin.

Let's start with the basics: braiding. Master this method, and you can use it to form more elaborate styles.

Step 1: Start by forming two side braids on either side of the head instead of one central braid. You could start by brushing and detangling your hair if it is extremely knotted. If you have unruly hair, adding a small bit of hair oil is something you might want to consider.

Step 2: Divide the hair into three identical parts near the neck. Your project will have three parts: a left, a right, and a central section. Put your right hand on the right side of the lanyard and your left hand on the left side.

Step 3: The next step is to begin braiding! Once you have done that, you will cross the middle strand across the left one so that it's in the middle. Now the centre strand travels right, and the strand that was before on the right becomes the new centre strand. At this point, you should transfer the left strand to the centre of the line and the strand in the middle should shift to the left.

Step 4: Move on to step 4, where you should repeat the process, moving right and left hair to the centre. Repeat until approximately one to two inches of hair is left. It's up to you to decide how much money you wish to save as spare change. Use a hair elastic to finish the braid. 2. Fishtail Braid:

The fishtail braid appears delicate and complicated, but it is pretty simple. Let's explore it.

Step 1: Brush or untangle your hair. Consider curling your hair before braiding it to enhance volume.

Step 2: Form a ponytail with the hair at the nape of the neck. Make sure this elastic is one you can lose because you'll be snipping it at the end.

Step 3: Split the ponytail into two pieces. The right section is in right hand, left section in left.

Step 4: Similar to the three-strand braid, but only with two strands. Pass a small amount of the left section to the right section. Next, bring a small bit of the right side over to the left. Rep this process till you only have an inch or two of hair left. Then tie it up.

Step 5: Carefully clip the hair elastic at the top of the braid and remove it. You can try this braiding technique without the disposable hair tie step, although it does give for much more control.

Step 6: To create a romantic, messy fishtail braid, gently tug on each side of the braid. Try pulling out a couple of pieces in front.

3. French Braid:

When you're ready to branch out from the traditional braid, you can try this variation. So, how do you do a French braid? Well, here are the specifics.

Step1: For the first step, divide the hair into three parts at the crown of the head.

Step 2:  Move on to create two rows of classic braids, beginning with a right-to-centre then left-to-centre crossing.

Step 3: You move on to the outside-strand-over-centre pattern, but you'll bring in the rest of your hair. Once you have transferred one part of the hair to the centre, you will first pick up a little section of hair from the other side of your head and place it on the outside strand to be added to the middle portion. Your hair should start at the hairline and continue to the back of the head where the braid begins.

Step 4: Continue moving your way down, incorporating all of the hair until it's all covered. Once you reach the base of your neck, you can tie your hair back in a traditional braid if you have long hair.

Step 5: Next, tie the last two inches of hair into a ponytail holder once you're finished braiding.

4. Dutch Braid:

A Dutch braid is a French braid that has been turned inside out. French braids cling to the skull, while dutch braids extend away from the scalp. The technique used to braid the hair is slightly different. In a Dutch braid, you go under the middle section instead of over it as you do in a French braid.

Step 1: Divide the hair into three head crown parts.

Step 2: Next, take two rows of a regular braid and, with one crucial alteration, do the opposite of what you'd normally do, crossing the left and right strands under the centre rather than over it.

Step 3: Proceed to repeat the same procedures you would use to French braid your hair. Hold the strands in place while you add a small piece of hair from each side of your head to the strand being moved. When doing the Dutch braid, always go under the centre strand.

Step 4: Use a hair elastic to secure the remaining couple of inches of hair.

Tips and Tricks:

1. Use Second-day Hair for Braiding:

Putting a little product in your hair helps it accomplish what you ask it to do. Freshly cleaned hair is quite slippery. Hair two to three days old usually lasts longer in a braid. To add grit to the region you're braiding, use a pomade or hair wax. Dry shampoo and dry texture spray also assist in holding hair in place.

2. Practise Your Part:

A fantastic braid requires a straight section. You'll need a rattail or pintail comb for this. Part with the tool's long wire end. Then clip the hair so it doesn't fall back into the parting. What about the nape? Better visibility with two mirrors: one stationary and one handheld.

3. Detangle

Knotty strands will snag and twist your hair while braiding. Before braiding, untangle all portions from roots to ends. And cut the pieces you aren't using to avoid knots mid-plait.

4. Self-talk

If you're a newbie, don't be afraid to teach yourself how to braid your own hair. To design a classic braid, recite “leftover the centre, right over the middle.”

5. "Pancake" for Luscious Braids.

Make a tight braid and bind it with an elastic. When doing a dutch braid or a fishtail, you can't start with a messy braid because it gets out of hand. Once the braid is set, pull the edges out to enlarge it and create volume. Work from the top of the braid to its ends. This is called “pancaking” and it doubles your braid's size.

6. Finish With Hairspray. Or Create Flyaways With Salt Spray and a Hairdryer.

The way you style your braid depends on the appearance you want to achieve. Spray hairspray along the hairline for a smooth, shining finish. To smooth everything back after the spray, use the rattail comb. Using salt spray on your strands can give you natural-looking flyaways. Then use a blowdryer to create a faint textural halo.
